DAY 1: ARRIVAL LAMEZIA - PARGHELIA
Look for the Favotto Tours sign after you have collected your luggage at Lamezia Terme International Airport Calabria.
Beatrice and I will be waiting to escort you to the air-conditioned van to transfer to your hotel.
You will check in at Hotel Porto Pirgos*****.
On arrival you will enjoy welcome cocktail drinks and appetisers followed by dinner in the hotel restaurant. Enjoy the sunset and relax by the pool.

DAY 2: SCILLA - REGGIO CALABRIA

Breakfast. Depart for Scilla, to visit Castello di Scilla a Norman Castle to enjoy
the panoramic views of Scilla, followed by lunch at Ristorante Il Casato, Chianalea di Scilla.
Chinalea di Scilla is a fishing village, which specialises in catching swordfish.
In the afternoon we meet our guide to visit the famed Bronzes of Riace at the National Museum followed a stroll along the promenade described as the most beautiful kilometre of Italy. We visit the Bergamot Museum which includes a tasting of this unusual fruit. Free time in Reggio.

DAY 3: ZUNGRI - PIZZO 

Breakfast. Depart 8:00am to Zungri for bread making at Asfalantea.
Today we experience traditional bread making and kneading the bread is mandatory!
Whilst the bread is baking we visit the caves of Zungri and Museo della Civiltà Rupestre e Contadine. Cave dwelling and return to Asfalantea for a typical Calabrian lunch. In the afternoon we transfer to Pizzo to visit the church of Piedigrotta. This is no ordinary church.
You have to make your way to the beach as the church is carved in a small cave and according to legend the church was built in the 17th century by shipwrecked fishermen.
No visit to Pizzo is complete without tasting the Tartufo di Pizzo a gelato based version of the truffle. We have reserved a tartufo tasting class at Bar Ercole.
Return to Tropea for free time.

DAY 4: TROPEA - OPTIONAL: AEOLIAN ISLANDS (STROMBOLI - LIPARI VOLCANO) 

Breakfast. Guided walking tour of Tropea followed by lunch at a local restaurant and free time in Tropea. Italy is famous for high fashion and the afternoon is reserved for shopping at Due Mari outlet centre Catanzaro.
For adventure seekers this is your opportunity to take a ferry trip to visit the Aeolian
Islands of Stromboli, Lipari and Vulcano. The choice is yours! This is an excellent
opportunity to get up close and personal to an active volcano.

DAY 5: AMANTEA - BELMONTE CALABRO - PAOLA

Breakfast. Today we transfer to seaside resort of Amantea to visit the Byzantine castle built in 839 followed by a visit to a unique dried fig tasting experience, Colavolpe, in Belmonte Calabro.
We continue to travel north along the Tyrrhenian Coast to Paola to visit the inspirational sanctuary of Saint Francis of Paola. Included is lunch serving food
typical of the area. In the afternoon we transfer to Cosenza. Our guide will meet us to show us the old city of Cosenza a city once referred to as “the Athens of Italy”. Free time in Cosenza.

DAY 6: ROSSANO 

Breakfast. Depart for Rossano to visit the famous Amarelli liquorice museum which has been making liquorice since 1731 and is the second most visited museum in Italy, after the Ferrari museum. We continue to visit the Diocesan Museum that stores the Codex Purpureus. The Codex Rossano Gospels, written in the 6th century, are the oldest surviving manuscripts of the New Testament. Lunch is at La Bizantina. Return to Cosenza for free time.

DAY 7: SILA NATIONAL PARK - SAN GIOVANNI IN FIORE - CAMIGLIATELLO - LAKE CECITA - LAKE ARVO 

Breakfast. Depart for the Sila National Park. Today we have a guided walking tour of the centro Cupone by the edge of Lago Cecita and short walking trek along the scenic paths to experience the pristine forest and glimpse the famed wolf, in captivity. Lunch will be at Il Grillo Parlante on the shore of Lake Arvo to taste the typical IGP Sila potatoes. After lunch we visit San Giovanni in Fiore to visit traditional weaving of fine cloth which has been preserved by the Caruso family followed by a visit to the quaint town of Camigliatello perched up high in the Sila mountains.

 DAY 8: STRONGOLI - WINE TASTING - CATANZARO LIDO 

Breakfast. Depart for Dattilo Winery in Strongoli to taste the fine wines of Calabria
including Ciro, a DOC wine. Included is a tractor tour of the winery and a special
Michelin star lunch lovingly prepared by Italy’s youngest Michelin Chef at the Datillo
Restaurant. Free time in Catanzaro Lido. Dinner at Mulino di San Floro.

DAY 9: SERRA SAN BRUNO - COOKING CLASS 

Breakfast. Serra San Bruno, a charming town of Calabria was founded by Bruno of
Cologne of the Carthusian order in the 11th century. Included is a guided tour of the
monastery museum followed by a cooking class and lunch at Il Fondo dei Baroni
including free time to walk among the enormous oak and chestnut trees.

DAY 10: CATANZARO - DEPARTURE 

Breakfast. Today we watch firsthand the tradition of cheese making at Caseificio
Mancuso. Included is tasting the finest cheeses of the region including Fiordilatte,
Picotta, Provola and Caciotta followed by our last lunch together. The tour concludes with a transfer to Lamezia International Airport.
